- Included were their 12 living children, 5 daughters-in-law, a son-in-law and 6 grandchildren. At the time, a son, a son-in-law and a grandchild were deceased. John was 62 and Martha was 53.
"The children of Mr. and Mrs. John Russell very pleasently surprised them by coming Sunday with well filled baskets and spent the day with them. Twenty-six were present for the day. In the afternoon A. Lawrence, the photographer of Lawrence came out and took a family group picture. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Bert Russell and family [sons Cecil and Bert, Jr.] of Paola; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Russell and baby [son Roy]; and Mr. and Mrs. Guy Russell of Wellsville; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Russell and baby [daughter Marie] of Osawatomie; Miss Katie Russell of Kansas City [MO]; Mrs. Lillie Bryan and daughters [Helen and Bessie] of Lawrence; and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Russell; Myrtle, Ernest, Ray and Grace Russell; and Mr. and Mrs. John Russell, all of this place [community of Belleview in Eudora Township, Douglas County, KS]."

Included in the picture, but not mentioned in the newspaper article, were Mr. and Mrs. William Brecheisen of Johnson County, KS. Mrs. Brecheisen was John and Martha Russell's daughter, Mabel Russell.
Residence:
- They then moved to California, Potterfield and Long Beach. They returned to Johnson County, KS in 1926 and lived there for the remainder of their lives.
