[Their house at 217 Poplar St. in Philadelphia] "was an old Revolutionary home over 130 years old then [1874], but it was a comfortable home. It had 8 rooms with attic and shed. The attic was used by Grandfather as a shop for making and mending shoes and the downstairs front room by Grandmother who was a dressmaker, and made and sewed cotton bed covers.
