Notes:
1699 - Biloxi was first settled in French Louisiana.

1720 - The capital of French Louisiana was moved from Mobile to Biloxi, and then to New Orleans in 1723.

1763 - France ceded this area to Great Britian.

1779 - Spain took control of this area.

1812 - The Mississippi Territory annexed this area, and Hancock County and Jackson County were formed, with Biloxi located in Hancock County.

1817 - On 10 December, Mississippi became the 20th state in the United States of America.

1824 - Jackson County received land from Hancock County.

1828 - Hancock County received land from Jackson County.

1833 - Hancock County received land from Jackson County.

1836 - Jackson County received land from Hancock County.

1841 - Harrison County was formed from portions of Hancock County and Jackson County, and it included Biloxi.

1916 - Stone County formed from a portion of Harrison County, creating Harrison County's present day boundries.
