1681 - On 28 February, Charles II of England granted a land charter to William Penn and named it the Pennsylvania Colony.

1862 - The 3 original counties in Pennsylvania were formed: Philadelphia County, Bucks County and Chester County (The former Dutch county of Upland.).

1683 - The Borough of Germantown was founded in Philadelphia County.

1707 - England became part of the UK.

1776 - On 4 July, the Declaration of Independence of the 13 colonies as the United States of America, was adopted by the Second Continental Congress.

1778 - On 5 March, Pennsylvania was the 8th state to ratify the Articles of Confederation of the United States of America.

1787 - On 12 December, Pennsylvania became the 2nd state to ratify the Constitution of the United States of America.

1854 - Germantown became a part of the City of Philadelphia.
