Notes:
1826 - Jackson County was formed from a portion of Lillard County, Missouri, USA. Lillard County became extinct.

1833 - Bates County formed from portions of Jackson County, Lafayette County and unincorporated land, and Van Buren County formed from portions of Jackson County, Lafayette County and unincorporated land.

1835 - Van Buren County and Bates County exchanged names, and Van Buren County received land from Jackson County.

1847 - Donaldson County formed from portions of Jackson County, Johnson County, Lafayette County, Van Buren County and unincorporated land.

1849 - Donaldson County became extinct, and its land was returned to the original counties, creating Jackson County's present day boundries.
