Notes:
1632 - Lord Baltimore obtained a charter from Charles I of England for the Province of Maryland, England.
1634 - The first settlers arrived in Maryland.
1642 - Kent County was formed from St. Mary's County, Province of Maryland, England.
1662 - Talbot County formed from a portion of Kent County.
1671 - Kent County received land from Talbot County.
1696 - Kent County and Talbot County exchanged some land.
1706 - Queen Anne's County formed from portions of Kent County, Talbot County, Dorchester County and unincorporated land.
1707 - On 1 May, England became a part of the UK. Also, Kent County received land from Cecil County, creating Kent County's present day boundries.
1776 - On 4 July, the Declaration of Independence of the 13 colonies as the United States of America, was adopted by the Second Continental Congress.
1781 - On 2 February, Maryland was the 13th state to ratify the Articles of Confederation of the United States of America.
1788 - On 28 April, Maryland ratified the Constitution and became the 7th state in the United States of America.
