1818 - Floyd County received land from Montgomery County.

1852 - Powell County formed from portions of Montgomery County, Clark County and Estill County.

1869 - Manifee County formed from portions of Montgomery County, Bath County, Morgan County, Powell County and Wolfe County, creating Montgomery County's present day boundries.
