Notes:
1610 - Santa Fe of New Mexico was established as a province of New Spain.

1680 - The indigenous Pueblo people drive the Spaniards out of Santa Fe.

1692 - The Spanish regain control of Santa Fe.

1810 - Mexico takes control of Santa Fe begining with their war for independance.

1836 - The Republic of Texas claimed Santa Fe after gaining its independence from Mexico.

1848 - The United States of America gained control of New Mexico after its war with Mexico.

1850 - The New Mexico Territory was formed in the United States of America, and Santa Fe County was one of the original counties in the New Mexico Territory. The city of Santa Fe became the county seat of Santa Fe County, and the capital of the New Mexico Territory.

1912 - On 6 January, New Mexico became the 47th state in the United States of America. The city of Santa Fe became the capital of the state of New Mexico.
