- Inscriptions of births, marriages and deaths in the Cochrane and associated families were hand written by unknown family members on pages of the bible. Clippings from unknown newspapers were included. This bible was first owned by David Cochran Jr. (1739-1792) and his wife, Lucy (Winston) Cochran (1760-1802), and passed in succession to their son, Dr. William Cochran (1779-1853), to his daughter, Helen Kenaway (Cochran) Garland (1816-1886), to her brother, Dr. William Winston Cochrane I (1820-1899), to his son, William Winston Cochrane II (1872-1951), to his son, William Winston Cochrane III (1912-1980) and to his son, William Winston Cochrane IV. William Winston Cochrane III had the bible bound with a new cover circa 1940 in New York City. Inscriptions were transcribed (digital file: "Cochran(e) Bible Inscriptions.doc") and digitally photographed (digital folder: "Cochran(e) Bible Photos") by William Winston Cochrane, IV in 2007.
